A little more about me and how I do things:
I have observed that having a good birthing experience can help set a good platform for bonding with baby.
Bonding with your baby sets the stage for a lifetime of deep and meaningful connection and relationship.
When infants and children experience that connection with their parent or caregiver, they feel accepted and loved which enables them to embrace themselves and their place in this world.
Supporting a mom and dad during labour is of utmost value, it has been shown to reduce Caesarean Section rates.
Birth is a joyous and sacred moment, and it is a privilege for me to provide education, care and support to women and their partners/husbands.
I am a certified midwife qualified to provide holistic care during pre-conception, throughout pregnancy, during birth, and in the postpartum phase. My passion is providing women with a natural birthing experience while ensuring the safety of both baby and mom. I work with mom and dad within their birth plan to maximise this incredibly joyous and meaningful moment! I've completed the Sensitive Midwifery course which incorporates the latest birthing research with emphasis on birthing the natural way.
I am a registered/professional nurse (RN) and completed my Bachelor of Nursing Science (BCur) in 2001. I've worked in many hospital departments including Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Neonatal ICU, Cardiothoracic Unit, and other wards and hospital departments, as well as a Clinical Training Specialist training other nurses in various departments.
Supporting women during labour is an incredible responsibility and honor and a huge passion for me. I therefore completed my WOMBS (Women Offering Mothers Birth Support) certification as a qualified doula and have had the privilege of supporting many women through the birth of their little one.
While breastfeeding comes easily to some moms and babies, many others need extra help. There’s a lot you can do to prevent problems developing and get breastfeeding off to a good start . Along with years of experience helping moms with latching and breastfeeding, I have completed the South African Certified Lactation Course (SACLC), which is an internationally recognized lactation qualification through Wits University, and I bring the wealth of knowledge, evidence and experience from these into providing consultations and birth plans that assist moms in achieving and enjoying the best possible breastfeeding experience.
I've spent many years working in different Neonatal and Adult Intensive Care Units and gained invaluable experience from each. I studied a specialized ICU course from 2006-2007 and working in different ICU's exposed me to many emergency situations. I provide care-giver training to equip care-givers to handle many emergency scenarios.
Birth preparation is a huge passion for me as it helps prepare & equip both mom & dad for the amazing journey & adventure ahead. Over many years & through many different experiences, my antenatal course has been updated & refined to include the latest research, & aims to provide thorough & holistic information & personal experiences that cover the full spectrum of antenatal preparation. My husband also takes the fathers for an evening session focused on their role which includes informative & invaluable information.

Birth support / Doula services at home and in the hospital provides the mom and dad with in-person guidance and support throughout labour and birth. Online support also provided if necessary.
Lactation consultations that assist mom with any breastfeeding or latching related issues; as well as prenatal breastfeeding consultations and plans. As a qualified South African Certified Lactation specialist, I also assist with complex breastfeeding issues. I also assist mom's who would like to adopt, to induce lactation and breastfeed their baby.
Post birth can be a daunting time so I provide latching, breastfeeding and other postnatal support which includes home visits where necessary. I also provide baby weighing to monitor the growth of your little one.
